And let’s talk more about the cool marketing lesson you can learn from the negligent parents in one of America’s most beloved Christmas movies.
Mostly everybody knows the basic plot of Home Alone, right?
Kevin McCallister is left “home alone” ahead of Christmas, a pair of bungling burglars gets involved, and hilarity ensues.
Kevin wouldn’t have been in the situation in the first place, though, if his parents hadn’t left him behind during their mad rush to catch a holiday flight to Paris.
Once the McCallister family (minus one) is well on their way across the Atlantic, there’s a scene that gives you a revealing glimpse into the psychology of how every single human brain on the planet works.
Something is bugging the mom … for some reason, she “feels” that something isn’t quite right.
So, what does she do?
She starts running through a list to try and figure out her problem.
Kate McCallister: Did I turn off the coffee?
Peter McCallister: No, I did.
Kate McCallister: Did you lock up?
Peter McCallister: Yeah.
Kate McCallister: Did you close the garage?
Peter McCallister: That’s it. I forgot to close the garage. That’s it.
Kate McCallister: No, that’s not it.
Peter McCallister: Well, what else could we be forgetting?
Kate McCallister: … KEVIN!!

Do you load them up into your sales copy?
If you do, are you aiming to build intrigue, or do you just slap ’em in there so you can rush through the writing process and get ’er done?
More importantly …
Are you building up your bullets so they target your ideal customer’s deepest fears and desires?
If you aren’t doing any of these things, you may be firing blanks with your copy.
There are ways to be hyper-effective with this copywriting technique, and people who are in the “bullet club” know what it can do for sales. You could say it’s as much an art as it is a science.
