Did you know there’s a basic formula for being interesting?
Does it make sense that a sociologist figured this out? It’s not like this “formula” is a “secret,” though …
It’s been used, in a variety of ways, by folks like Friedrich Nietzsche and Karl Marx to Dan Kennedy and the diet industry …
We even see this technique used in Sacred Scripture by Our Blessed Lord. So what is this formula? …
“What seems to be X is in reality non-X.” In other words … “It’s not this thing, it’s that thing.” …
There are all kinds of ways to implement this in your emails – especially your subject lines – and the rest of your marketing to create interest.
The essay, by the way, is titled “That’s Interesting!” by Murray Davis and first appeared as an article in Philosophy of the Social Sciences way back in 1971. (Just as cool, I was writing about it on Twitter yesterday!)
Stay holy my friend and God bless.
