So, about this whole “stealing the selling power of celebrities” thing to use in your email marketing …
To be clear, I’m not talking about lying and saying guys like Tom Cruise and Tom Brady endorse your product. That kind of approach is flat-out wrong and you’ll get sued, so don’t EVER do it.
Now, if you want to actually pay those blokes, and you have the means to do so, then I think you absolutely should, because it’s worth it, just make sure you choose the right celeb that’ll resonate with your market.
What I’m talking about here is something completely different, and it ties into what I teach about emails.
It’s about you, your observations, and your experiences.
When you hear what celebrity X was doing last weekend, for example, and it reminds you about something that has to do with your product or service …
There’s your way in.
If they’re in a movie or TV show you like, and they have this scene that reminds you about whatever you’re selling, or a common complaint that customers have …
There’s the hook, but …
You have to do it in a relatable, conversational way that comes from who you are at the core, and the only way you can do this is to shift away from boring “corporate” emails, and take a more personal approach with the writing. (Go back to the Jose Canseco email I sent last week.)
In this sense, you’re not so much “stealing” someone’s name recognition as you are relating a story that comes from your heart, from a world where the celebrity is there in the background, something you might tell a friend over a beer, which is a great way to think about your email marketing strategy.
Why?
Because this will set you apart from your competition in the inbox of your customers.
Now, if you need help with that, I know a guy …
Stay holy my friend and God bless.

Post Post Scriptum – It’s time for THE Greatest Email Guide to Humility you’ve EVER seen! The source is Pope Leo XIII and his wonderful book “The Practice of Humility.” Here’s the money quote of the day:
“As in the holy Gospel, seek always the lowliest place for yourself; be sincerely convinced that it is the right one for you. Likewise, in every necessity of life beware of desires and concerns that aim too high; on the other hand, be content with simple and modest things, as more in harmony with your littleness.”
